This week, The Play Space Inc is shining a spotlight on Murraylands Gymnastics Academy — a local, not-for-profit organisation helping people of all ages get active, build confidence and have fun!

📍 Currently located on Thomas Street, Murray Bridge, the Academy is preparing for an exciting new chapter, with a brand-new, purpose-built venue expected to open in late 2027! Thanks to Daniel from DT Clifford Constructions, we have had the privilege of seeing the plans for the new facility, and we think it's absolutely amazing! 🙌 There's plenty of space, and the plans incorporate accessibility for people with additional mobility needs and those who use mobility aids. We love seeing community facilities being designed with inclusion in mind!

🤸 GYMNASTICS FOR EVERYONE!

Murraylands Gymnastics Academy offers programs for a wide range of ages and abilities, including Kindergym for little ones aged 0–5 years.

Many programs are based on age and skill level rather than gender, helping create opportunities for more people to get involved. For adults interested in a more competitive pathway, gender-based sessions are also available.

💜 A TEAM THAT UNDERSTANDS INCLUSION

One of the things that really stood out to us was the Academy's commitment to supporting gymnasts with additional needs.

Many coaches, staff and volunteers have additional training to help support participants with different needs, including people with ADHD and Autism.

Staffing levels are considered according to participants' abilities and support needs, and the team is willing to arrange additional coaches and support where required.

Because inclusion isn't just about opening the door — it's about making sure people have the support they need to participate, learn and enjoy themselves.

💚 MAKING GYMNASTICS ACCESSIBLE FOR FAMILIES

We know that the cost of extracurricular activities can be a barrier for many families, and we were pleased to learn that the Academy is understanding of different financial circumstances.

✔️ SA Sports Vouchers accepted

✔️ Payment plans can be discussed to suit individual circumstances

✔️ Fees are paid term by term

✔️ Leotards are optional extras

✔️ Free trial classes are available for those who want to give gymnastics a go before committing

Getting started doesn't require a huge investment, and the team is happy to have a conversation about what works for your family.

🎉 FUN COMES FIRST!

From what we saw and learned, the Academy places a strong emphasis on making physical activity enjoyable. It's about more than gymnastics skills — it's about giving people opportunities to move, learn, build confidence and be part of a community.

As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation, the Academy also relies on the dedication of its people. Everyone we encountered was welcoming, approachable and passionate about what they do.

🌈 WHY WE THINK THEY'RE WORTH CHECKING OUT

If you've been thinking about getting your child involved in gymnastics, or you're an adult looking for a new activity, now is an exciting time to connect with Murraylands Gymnastics Academy.

You can become part of the community, find a program that suits you and share in the excitement as the Academy works towards its new home in 2027!

We love seeing local organisations working to create opportunities for people of different ages, abilities and circumstances to participate in community life.

👏 Thank you to everyone at Murraylands Gymnastics Academy for the work you do and for welcoming us to learn more about your organisation.
