Bridge Bowl

We recently had the opportunity to visit Bridge Bowl in Murray Bridge and came away incredibly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, inclusive approach, and genuine passion of the team behind the venue!

Owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Aaron and Kayla, Bridge Bowl is much more than just a bowling alley. Since purchasing the business in 2020 with no prior bowling experience, they've dedicated themselves to learning the trade, investing in major upgrades, modernising equipment, and creating a venue that caters to people of all ages and abilities.

Accessibility has clearly been considered throughout the venue. There are ramps leading into the building, through the seating areas and onto the bowling lanes, making access easier for wheelchair users and those using mobility aids. Bowling ramps are also available to help everyone enjoy the game. The venue also offers an accessible all-gender bathroom complete with a change table.

For individuals with sensory needs, the team can adjust lighting and sound levels and are happy to discuss quieter times for visits. They also offer reduced-cost bowling for Companion Card holders, helping make the experience more affordable and accessible.

One of the standout features is their Special Needs League, held every Saturday. They also run children's leagues during the week, providing a fantastic pathway for young bowlers to develop their skills and transition into competitive bowling as they grow.

The venue is extremely family-friendly, with high chairs available and facilities catering for families with young children. During school holidays, they offer special family packages and promotions, making it an affordable outing for the whole family.

Beyond bowling, visitors can enjoy an arcade area featuring pool tables and games starting from just $1. The venue is also available for private hire and has even hosted weddings!

Bowling enthusiasts will appreciate the fully stocked Pro Shop, offering affordable equipment and custom ball drilling completed onsite. Aaron's passion for the sport shines through, and regular league bowlers are known for being welcoming and supportive of newcomers.

A membership costs just $15 per year and includes benefits such as discounted practice games and savings at the bar. Speaking of food and drinks - locals weren't shy about sharing their verdict: "Best chips in Murray Bridge!"

One of the highlights of my visit was the behind-the-scenes tour, where Aaron explained how the machinery works and shared the incredible journey of upgrading the pin-setting systems. The venue also welcomes educational groups interested in learning more about the mechanics of bowling.

Whether you're an experienced bowler, looking for a family day out, seeking an inclusive sporting environment, or simply wanting to try something new, Bridge Bowl is well worth a visit.

A huge thank you to Aaron, Kayla and James for their hospitality and for creating a community-focused venue where everyone is encouraged to get involved.
