The Sanctuary
The Sanctuary was created from Delilah’s lifelong love and passion for caring for animals, combined with a simple discovery: almost everyone can connect through our friends from the animal kingdom. Regardless of a person's age or ability, animals have a unique way of bringing people together, creating moments of connection, joy and understanding.
When They Need Somewhere To Go...
Sometimes life changes, circumstances become difficult, or we simply realise that we can no longer give an animal the care they deserve. Whatever the reason, The Sanctuary is a safe, caring and judgement-free place to turn to.
As a registered not-for-profit organisation, we can accept and care for most pocket pets including rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, birds and poultry. We also hold a wildlife licence and can accept a range of reptiles and amphibians, subject to our licensing requirements and available space.
We believe every animal deserves to be treated with kindness, patience and respect. When an animal comes into our care, we give them the time and attention they need while working towards the best outcome for them. For most animals, this means caring for them until we can find a suitable forever home where they can continue to be loved and cherished.
And sometimes, an animal becomes part of The Sanctuary family for good... A special few become permanent residents, joining us at animal experiences and helping create those wonderful moments of connection between people and animals. We love seeing how an animal that once needed a second chance can go on to bring joy, comfort and connection to others.
There is no judgement at The Sanctuary. We understand that asking for help can be difficult, and our focus is on the animal and what they need moving forward.

Play Space Paddock Animal Experiences
Our animal experiences are about more than simply meeting an animal, they are an opportunity to learn, connect and create meaningful moments.
Through hands-on, inclusive experiences, The Sanctuary helps people of all ages and abilities discover more about animals, responsible animal care and the wonderful connections we can share with the animal kingdom. We believe animals have a unique ability to bring people together, create conversations and build community.
Our animals also love getting out and about! The Sanctuary can bring animal experiences to private events, halls and hired venues, community events, schools, organisations and groups, allowing people to enjoy meaningful animal encounters in places that are accessible and familiar to them.
Importantly, every experience also helps support the animals who call The Sanctuary home. Funds raised through our animal experiences go towards their care, including food, housing, enrichment and veterinary needs, helping us continue providing them with a safe and loving home.
